• A new, unified definition for limited-energy cables is introduced to better capture modern low-voltage systems like PoE and digital power delivery.

2. Expanded Safety Requirements

• Arc-flash hazard labeling is significantly expanded: More electrical equipment now requires a permanent arc flash label showing voltage, incident energy or required PPE, and the date of assessment. This increases worker safety and clarity during servicing.

• Requirements related to working clearances and access now consider how equipment doors and panels open, making maintenance safer.

3. Wiring & Installation Clarifications

• Damaged wiring or conductors (e.g., due to water, fire, or corrosion) must be replaced rather than reconditioned, and new guidance on raceway condensation protection is added.

• The “360-degree rule” for bends in raceways is now explicitly stated to prevent installation errors.

4. Load Calculations & Energy Management

• Load calculation rules are refined — including how general lighting, receptacles, and continuous loads are determined — reflecting changes in energy usage and efficiency.

• A new category for Power Control Systems (PCS) is formalized to help define and regulate energy management equipment more clearly.

5. EV Charging & Qualified Installers

• Permanent electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) installations must now be done by qualified persons, effectively ending widespread DIY installations in many jurisdictions.
